ILO to conduct survey on manpower, including child workers, in 2014

The Ministry of Labour and the International Labour Organization will conduct a survey in 2014 on manpower, including child workers, according to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security.

The MOU between the ILO and the Ministry was signed on Thursday last week.

The survey will collect data on child workers, work departments, the collecting of wages, and school-to-work transitions. The results will be used to make policy recommendations for employers, and employment policy suggestions for government, as well as providing reflections on how to access better jobs, conduct research and compile work indexes.

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security will soon sign the ILO’s Definition 182 on Employing Child Workers in the Worst Forms, according to the Ministry.
