Myanmar (Burma): Too Late to Turn Back?

The public is invited to attend a World Affairs Forum special event hosted by MasterCard Worldwide at its headquarters in Purchase, NY, which will feature a presentation on Myanmar by journalist Barbara Crossette. This event will take place on September 23, 2013.

Barbara Crossette is currently the U.N. correspondent of The Nation and formerly The New York Times chief correspondent in Southeast Asia and South Asia, and the Times bureau chief at the UN.

In 1991 Ms. Crossette won the George Polk Award for foreign reporting for her coverage of the assassination in India of a former prime minister, Rajiv Gandhi. In 2008 she received a Fulbright Award for contributions to international understanding and in 2010 she won the Shorenstein Prize, awarded jointly by research centers at Harvard and Stanford Universities, for writings on Asia that enhanced understanding of the region in the West.
