Unicharm Corp. said Friday it has reached a basic agreement to buy
Myanmar’s major sanitary napkin and baby diaper maker by June in line
with its goal of expanding sales in Southeast Asian countries.
The Japanese personal care product maker aims to acquire most of the
outstanding common shares in Myanmar Care Products Ltd. by taking over
CFA International Paper Products Pte., a Singaporean firm that owns an
88 percent interest in the Yangon-based company.
Unicharm said it will also buy 10 percent of Myanmar Care Products’ shares not held by the Singaporean company.
