More than 70 Japanese companies have entered Myanmar's market by January this year, including the country’s largest logistics services company, Nippon Express (NP), according to official figures.
Nippon Express president Mr Kenji Watanabe said the company will facilitate the country's cargo transportation sector, lately.
Earlier last month, EMG reported on its
English website that NP will open its liaison office at Sarkura Tower in
Yangon with the opening ceremony to be held at Sedona Hotel in the city
on February 26.
The company will provide air freight,
marine transport and roadways logistics services with high quality
services for local services.
"I think we will never be successful if
we don't work together with local partners in Myanmar. And we can not
stand alone by ourselves in the services. We hope local logistic
services companies will progress working together with us," Mr Kenji
Watanabe said.
"I hope infrastructure development in
the country will help improve its trading with other countries," Nippon
Express has a strong global network that spans over 80 countries, with
company direct operations in 33 nations.
Nippon Express has opened its liaison
offices at 216 towns in 37 countries. The rivals of Nippon Express are
DHL Express, Nippon Yusen Kabu-shiki Kaisha and Yamato Holdings.
Germany based logistics DHL Express has
entered Myanmar since 1982. DHL Express is a division of the German
logistics company Deutsche Post providing international express mail
services.
There were 54 Japanese companies which entered Myanmar's market by June of 2012, totaling 75 by this January.
