Myanma Port Authority (MPA) has started cutting red tape, according to sources.
The authority has minimized phases and
duration required for official processes which can prolong port
clearance process of handling imported goods and containers through
Yangon Port terminals, Cho Than Maung, the managing director for MPA
told Eleven Media Group lately.
Special working groups will also be created to make the port clearance process speedy reducing unnecessary phases, he said.
The authority has been directed to do so
by Public Services Performance Appraisal Task Force (PSPATF), a
powerful body recently created by President Thein Sein to slash
government red tape, eliminate duplication and reduce fees and
streamline bureaucracy across the range of public services.
Comprising cabinet ministers, academics and politicians, the body is headed by Tin Naing Thein, a former commerce minister.
"We set up a working group to slash duplication and reduce fees under a directive from PSPATF," Cho Than Maung said.
The reduction will include some official
processes for Delivery Order (D/O), Lesser Container Load (LCL) for
Import and Export, and Full Container Load (FCL), according to the
authority.
